Vaccinations

Lakota YouthStay will follow all CDC recommendations regarding COVID vaccinations and quarantine/isolation guidelines for youth and adults.

Youth must be fully vaccinated and boosted as per CDC guidelines for their age group

  • Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine for youth up to 17 yrs old – 2 primary vaccinations and 1 booster
  • Moderna Vaccine for youth up to 17 yrs old – 2 primary vaccinations and 1 booster

A Vaccination card with the youth’s name and birthdate must be submitted with the initial youth application packet.

If the CDC recommends further boosters, all youth will be required to obtain the booster prior to the departure date and show proof of additional booster

All Youth must bring a minimum of 3 masks with them to Boston:

  • All Youth participants must conduct an at-home COVID test the morning of the departure date.
  • A photo of youth holding the test results below their face must be emailed or texted to Joy Harris at jharris@lakotayouthstay before departing for the airport. If we do not receive this, the youth will not be allowed to travel to Boston.
  • Any youth testing positive on the day of departure will not be allowed to go to the airport or board the plane.
  • Youth must be masked at the airports, on the plane to/from Boston except when eating/drinking and whenever LYS or the host family requests that masks be worn.

Quarantine/Isolation

If a youth develops signs/symptoms of COVID during the YouthStay program, the youth will be required to quarantine/isolate in the host home as per CDC guidelines. If the host is unable to provide space to properly quarantine/isolate, the youth will be moved to a home that can. The youth will be required to wear a mask and maintain a distance of 5’ or more from any person who assists during the quarantine period.
