Develop friendships and learn about Native American culture and history

Connecting 10 to 15-year-olds from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota with hosts in the Greater Boston area for 9 days of exploration and discovery, building friendships and engagement through shared activities of interest. Lakota YouthStay is a program of the West Medford Community Center.

Recognizing the reality of the ongoing risk in the country due to the pandemic and the uncertainty of where things will be in July, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 LYS summer program.  Although this is a disappointment to everyone involved with LYS, it is the right thing to do to keep us all safe and healthy.   We look forward to re-starting the program in 2022.

The tentative summer program dates are July 12 – July 21, 2022. Youth Applications open on the December 1, 2021.
